In celebration of the beauty of being on the beach in summer – which as e.e.cummings says – is always a way to find ourselves, to ground our spirits in the larger whole, here are some photos from my too-short holidays at the Pinery Provincial Park on Lake Huron and a day trip to Sibbald Provincial Park on Lake Simcoe.
“At the beach, life is different. A day moves not from hour to hour but leaps from mood to moment. We go with the currents, plan around the tides, follow the sun.” Sandy Gingras
“The sea does not reward those who are too anxious, too greedy, or too impatient. One should lie empty, open, choiceless as a beach – waiting for a gift from the sea.” Anne Morrow Lindbergh
“The Sea, once it casts its spell, holds one in its net of wonder forever.” Jacques Cousteau
“In every outthrust headland, in every curving beach, in every grain of sand there is the story of the earth.” Rachel Carson
“To myself I am only a child playing on the beach, while vast oceans of truth lie undiscovered before me.” Isaac Newton
